Tracks, Curtains and Rigging
Tracks and curtains are found in almost any Performing Arts space, from basic blacks on-stage or in a school drama studio, to acoustic drapes or decorative finishes with appliqué work for logos or crests. In conjunction with lighting rigs, raise and lower gear is often used in schools where daily safe access, insurance, teaching and disability regulations are regular considerations. And as well as traditional theatres, leisure centres can also find a second income, with the ability to lower their performance facilities for an evening show!
We will discuss your requirements and provide a free no-obligation quotation. Installations follow a detailed site survey and design works, supplemented by IPAF, PASMA, CSCS and IOSH safety certification, together with appropriate testing documentation at project completion. Refer to our maintenance section for details of our inspection and repair services, following which we provide a report, compliance documents and safety certification. (Flying gear and safety curtains should be inspected annually as LOLER regulations are a legal requirement, and any other moving equipment is covered by PUWER.)
Any curtaining requirements can be catered for, from theatres and schools to clubs and hotels – even aircraft hangars and sports halls! We can make stage drapes, gauzes, star cloths, swags, reefers, wall and ceiling drapes, stage cloths, TV and cyclorama cloths, acoustic drapes, stage skirts and sports nets. Curtains and drapes are made especially for each project, always using flameproofed fabrics, and we can add special finishes such as satin bands or fringing. We also offer repair, cleaning and re-flameproofing services.
Tracks can be used for many varied applications, in addition to conventional stage, drama and window curtains. They can support nets in sports halls, division panels in conference centres, or scenery flats on stage. Tracks can even raise and lower, or support other tracks, allowing lighting to move around a room, or entire performances spaces to retract for storage. Operation can of course be electric, or manual using a rope or winch.
Many types of equipment can raise and lower, from flying scenery or curtains, to lighting barrels or large truss rigs. Types of rigging can include the luxury of powered flying with pilewind or chain hoists, or manual counterweights, rope/hemp sets or winches. Together with rigid or roller safety curtains, we can install as well as carry out annual inspections and safety certification, which is a legal requirement for all raise and lower equipment.
